Here is a page to show you my latest fad - baking. When I can't find anything I want to eat I grab my rolling pin and mixing bowl and get baking.

Here is my biscuit recipe

You need:-
 
175g / 6oz - Plain Flour
100g / 4ozs - Butter or Margarine
50g / 2ozs - Caster Sugar
 
Rolling Pin
Biscuit cutters / sharp knife
Baking tray
Cooling Rack
 
Pre Heat oven to 150 C / 300 F / Gas Mark 2
 
Cream the butter or margarine and caster sugar together until they are light and fluffy. Stir in the flour and once mixed knead the dough together until it forms a ball, add a sprinkle of flour if the dough is at all sticky.
 
Roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface until it is about 5mm thick.
 
Cut out the dough using your chosen cutter.
 
Place the biscuits on a floured baking tray and bake in the center of the oven for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
 
Let the biscuits cool on a wire tray before decorating.

Honey Apple Fingers
(Warning children love these)
Yum Rating ***** (top marks)
 
You need:-
 
100g butter / margarine
5 tbsp honey
2 tbsp golden syrup
1 large Bramley apple
Sultanas or glacee cherries (depends on what you prefer)
175g porridge oats
 
Baking tray (greased)
Sauce pan
 
Pre heat oven to 190 C / gas mark 5
 
Melt the butter in a pan on a low heat and add the honey and golden syrup and leave to heat up.
 
Pell and dice the apple and add it to the butter mixture along with sultanas or the glacee cherries.
 
Add the porridge oats and mix them in.
 
Put the mixture into the baking tray and cook for 25 minutes or until golden brown.
 
Leave to cool then cut into fingers.

Chocolate Loaf Cake
(My own original recipe so feel free to add more chocolate to the mix as this cake when made as the recipe says is a subtle chocolate taste)

You need:-
 
3 ozs Butter / margarine
3 ozs caster sugar
3 ozs self raising flour
3 ozs of drinking chocolate / cocoa
3 small eggs (beaten)
 
Mixing Bowl
Loaf Tin
Sieve
 
Pre heat oven to 180 C
 
Cream the butter and sugar together in a bowl
 
Add the 3 beaten eggs
 
Sieve the flour and fold it into the mixture
 
Add the drinking chocolate / cocoa
 
Grease the loaf tin and place the mixture into the tin
 
Cook in the oven for 30 minutes and turn out the cake onto a wire tray to cool

Chocolate Loaf Cake 1st try

Banana Loaf Cake

You need:-
 
5 ozs butter / margarine
4 ozs caster sugar
6 ozs self raising flour
1 1/2 bananas
3 eggs
 
2lb loaf tin (greased)
 
Pre heat oven to 180 C / gas mark 4
 
Cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy
 
In a seperate bowl beat the eggs and then add to the creamed mixture
 
In a bowl cut up the bananas and mash them down to form a lumpy texture and then add them to the creamed mixture
 
Stir in the flour
 
Place the mixture into the greased loaf tin
 
Place into the oven and cook for 40 - 45 minutes (the center takes a while to cook so check before taking the cake out of the oven)
 
Remove from the tin and place on a wire tray and leave to cool
